Interpreting at Lectures

Interpreting at Lectures

Interpreting is required where the lecturer and the audience speak different languages. The specific nature of lecture events, in its turn, requires interpreters to have a specific set of skills. In particular, they must:

  • Be well-versed in the lecture’s topic;

  • Have knowledge of specialized terms; and

  • Have extensive experience providing interpreting services (simultaneous or consecutive).

Our company has been in the interpreting business since 1997. Over this time, our interpreters have participated in thousands of such events.

This vast experience enables them to remain calm and effective even in challenging situations, focusing the audience’s attention where the lecturer wants it to be. A lecture held with the participation of our interpreters will allow the entire audience to understand the lecturer’s message!

Edelweiss provides lecture interpreting services in English, Chinese, German, and other European and Asian languages.

It is common knowledge that often lectures require interpreting, but only a few people know that there are two modes used – consecutive interpreting and simultaneous interpreting:

  • A lecture held using consecutive interpreting implies that the lecturer makes pauses between phrases to allow the interpreter to communicate the message to the audience.

  • A lecture held using simultaneous interpreting implies that the interpreter speaks in parallel with the lecturer, trailing only a few seconds behind.

Each mode has its advantages. Please contact our managers – that’s the easiest and most reliable way to learn the topic in detail. They will help you choose the mode that suits you best and will tell you about our current discounts and special offers.

You can order our simultaneous or consecutive interpreting services right now. We guarantee that lectures held with our participation will be interpreted in the most responsible and professional manner possible.

Edelweiss is the key to a successful event!
